Nursing Concept Analysis Global Challenges

Question: How will increasing your level of education affect how you compete in the current job market? How will increasing your level of education affect your role in the future of nursing? Answer: Reflection is the exploration of personal actions and thoughts and for health care practitioners it means how to carry forward the approaches taken up in he professional life. In this present reflection, I would like to explain how I see myself fitting into the Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendations. In addition, I would also discuss how the increase in my level of education can impact the way I compete in the current job market and how the increase in the level of education impact my role in the future of nursing. Reflection on Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendations Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendation number 4 is to increase the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020 (Nursingworld.org, 2016). I see myself fitting into this recommendation as I will be completing my bachelors degree in nursing well before the year 2020 that is the target year. I am presently a nursing student in a renowned nursing college of the state for obtaining a bachelors degree in nursing. Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendation number 5 is to double the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020 (Nursingworld.org, 2016). I have a desire to walk towards fulfilling this goal by influencing my elder sister, masters of nursing and already a practicing nurse in a well-known health care setting, to undertake a doctorate degree in nursing. Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendation number 6 is to ensure that nurses engage in lifelong learning (Nursingworld.org, 2016). I am determined to engage in lifelong learning by having the competencies that such learning demand. I am undertaking a certificate course in informatics that would be beneficial for increasing my skill set and competencies. I, therefore, aim to continue my learning throughout my practice and approach my seniors to support me. I need to be active and self-directed. My learning would be inclusive of all circumstances, roles and environments. How will increasing my level of education affect how I compete in the current job market I would now like to highlight the options I have in the job market based on the educational level I am having as I will be completing my nursing bachelors degree next year. A bachelor's degree in nursing is a step toward starting a career as a registered nurse. With a bachelors degree in nursing, I have different workplace options that are varied. The different options are to work in private surgical and medical hospitals, physicians office, public surgical and medical hospitals, home health care services and nursing care facilities. In private settings, opportunities are present to treat a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries (Potter et al. 2013). How will increasing my level of education affect my capability to compete in the current job market Next, I would like to mention how increasing the education level affect my capability to compete in the current job market. As per my knowledge, the present job market for nurses is being shifted on a permanent basis. Care and the relevant job is drifting out of hospitals into alternative inpatient care settings, homes, and communities (Fitzpatrick et al., 2016). Increasing the education would give me more opportunities to have employment, and I would learn to find and get such varied jobs. How increasing my level of education affect my role in the future of nursing Lastly, I would like to draw focus on how increasing my level of education affect my role in the future of nursing. Higher education is always in demand in nursing so as to have more competency in delivering high quality care (Loke et al., 2016). Increasing my education would be beneficial for me in my nursing practice as it will empower me with a rich skill and competency set. Conclusion I have the complete potential to fit into the the Institute of Medicine (IOM) future of nursing recommendations and I would contribute towards the aim of having a strong nursing workforce in the country. Nursing practice has high scope and dimensions in future and having increased education level means that I have better opportunites for my career. References Fitzpatrick, J.
